Do you find that when you hear certain songs your body automatically wants to move or dance? Some music just seems to have that ability, and it doesn’t matter if you have studied dance, or simply enjoy a good boogie with your friends, moving your body to music can really lift your mood!
Groovy Glutes has so many benefits apart from strengthening your gluteal muscles and shaping up your bottom. The style of the class is very inclusive; all abilities can get a good workout from it, with bands available for an extra challenge if you want it. However, even without bands, you will know that you have worked hard at the end of the session, even though you were just having fun and moving with the music.
Think of a dance workout without complicated choreography, so you can enjoy the music and dancing, even if you don’t have great co-ordination. The tracks are chosen to motivate and empower you, so you can feel sexy in your own body, whatever your age or size, and by the end of the class you will feel on top of the world.
So, what other benefits are there to a dance-based workout? There are a wide range of physical and mental benefits, some of which we have already mentioned above. It is a workout that will improve your cardiovascular performance, and also muscular strength and endurance, particularly of the lower body. As it is an impact class, although mainly lower impact, it is great for maintaining bone mass and reducing the risk of osteoporosis as we get older. It can also improve balance and spatial awareness, which can also be highly beneficial to help prevent falls and their complications.
Looking at some of the mental benefits, your general sense of wellbeing will improve, as too, over time, will your self-confidence and self-esteem. It’s a great stress buster and will leave you feeling happy due to the release of endorphins during exercise. Finally, dance classes are great for improving social skills, whether it is studio-based or live streaming online, as we are ensure participants have time at the end to have a chat.
Groovy Glutes also incorporates some floor work, similar types of exercises as you may find in a Legs, Bum and Tums class. However, with the addition of the optional bands, this work can be intensified meaning that in a short time, even the fittest will feel they have worked hard. By the way, if you are wondering what I mean by bands, there is a cuff to go around each thigh, fastened by Velcro, and two different strength bands which are attached to the cuffs, one during the cardio section, and the other during the muscular endurance section (floor exercises).
So, if you are looking for a class with uplifting music to have a simple dance along to, whilst burning some calories, strengthening your muscles, and having a fun time, Groovy Glutes should be on your list to try.
This looks great! Looking forward to my classes
